Our Top 5 Tips To Make Your Wedding Dance The Most Spectacular Time of Your Life!

Your wedding dance should be something you look forward to not something you’re dreading. It’s the one dance where you can pretty much guarantee that all eyes will be on you and your new partner.

Here are 5 top tips to help you prepare for this special event and make sure it’s an absolute success!

1.       Select a song that means something to you both

This is probably the most critical aspect of your first dance. Whether it’s the song that was playing when you first met or a song written by one of you for the other, picking a song that holds some meaning for you both, will ensure you relate to and feel emotionally connected to each other throughout the duration of your dance. This will shine through for your guests.

2.       Practice, practice, practice

As they say, practice makes perfect. Whether you decide to ‘wing it’ on the night or have lessons to perform a choreographed dance, you should at least have some idea of the moves you’ll be making together on the night. Whether it’s the same three steps or a known dance like the cha-cha, you need to have an idea of the footwork and basic manoeuvres you plan to make so as to avoid stepping on each other’s’ toes!

3.       Focus on each other, not the rest of the room

This is your special day and the focus you have on each other will shine through. By focussing inwards, you’re not only less likely to stumble but this is where your attention should be, given the gravity of this life event. The spotlight should be on your love for one another not the outer noise of the room.

4.       Invite your family and friends to join you

If you want to create an inclusive environment and you are close to your family, it might be an idea to invite your family up to join you. Some couples chose to invite the parents of the bride first, followed by the parents of the groom, the bridal party and friends.

5.       Consider a live element

Whether it’s a live band, a fireworks display or even a feature piece like a champagne fountain, it’s these kind of special touches that guests will remember. Whilst it might seem a lot of work to organise, it can often become something that is talked about for years to come. Careful planning and consideration should be given to your location, the surroundings and who is required to be on site. And don’t forget to ask permission from your venue. It may not even be possible!
