4 Killer Hints for Live Entertainment at Your EOFY Party

Whilst lots of interesting (and embarrassing), things can happen at corporate functions the one thing you want to work well, is the entertainment. We all love a full dance floor and let’s be honest, after a solid period of work there’s nothing better than kicking up your heels with your colleagues and celebrating your hard work (with a few cocktails mixed in there somewhere).

Without careful planning there are many things that can go wrong. These are the common ones our team come across with our corporate clients.

  1. Book well in advance

You might have a great singer or band in mind for your next corporate function but if they’re not available then it can make or break the night. Nobody wants to deal with tardy or average talent all because you didn’t book with enough time. Most artists are booked 3 months in advance so the earlier you can get in, the better.

  1. The music makes it!

Make sure you have a good mix of familiar top 40 tunes. This will ensure that most of the guests will recognise some of the music (off the radio at least), meaning more movement on the dancefloor. Whether you have a DJ or a live band, both should be able and willing to accommodate this and they should be able to provide you with a list of their repertoire or a song list. If not, don’t be afraid to ask for one!

  1. Bring something unique to the party

If you really want your night to stand out think about having some sort of feature on the night. You might want to have a champagne tower, a fire twirler, photo booth, a mixologist serving drinks theatrically or burlesque dancers. This can add a very unique and personal twist to your event that will have people talking about it for weeks.

  1. Let the music play on, play on…

Many venues have strict curfews and nowadays most even have devices fitted that automatically turns the music down. In our experience, depending on the device it may actually cut the music off if it exceeds a certain volume. To avoid this, check with your venue in advance so your artist/s can be made aware of this and in turn, can manage the volume accordingly on the night.

Most of all, make sure you have fun too! Your hard work’s paid off!
